We are excited to announce the publication of the Subject-Based Guidelines for Digitalisation developed within the framework of the Di-struct! project. This project, funded by the Erasmus+ Programme, focuses on equipping VET teachers with digital skills to transform how classes are delivered using Information and Communication Technologies (ICT). The project arose from recognizing the urgency for development in education digitalization, as highlighted in European educational policy discussions. It aims to bridge the gap between the recognized need for digitalization in VET and the lack of widespread adoption of digital tools and methodologies in classrooms across Europe.
The Di-struct! Guidelines serve as a toolkit for VET educators. Their objectives are to improve understanding of available digital tools and approaches, enhance teachers’ digital skills in content creation, illustrate the benefits of using ICT in VET, provide an overview of suitable digital tools for various VET disciplines, offer practical examples, and give suggestions for designing effective digital lessons. The toolkit includes a methodology, practical examples, and a curated list of digital tools tailored to different subjects. Pedagogical models such as SAMR and Gagné are presented to guide teachers in their digital transformation journey.
The benefits of digitalization for teachers and students are highlighted, including increased accessibility of educational material, inclusion of students with special needs, pedagogical differentiation, creating engaging and interactive content, and efficiency and time saving. The guidelines prepare teachers for the future of education and students for the requirements of the labour market, promoting transversal skills and autonomy.
These guidelines are the result of the collaboration of the Di-struct! project partners, incorporating positive feedback from numerous teachers interviewed during the testing phase. They have been translated into the partnership’s languages to ensure accessibility for European teachers.
We invite all VET teachers and other interested people to explore this valuable resource. The Di-struct! Guidelines are now available for consultation on the project website: https://www.di-struct.eu/toolkit/.
Please note also that the guidelines are designed to complement the E-Learning course “VET going digital”, accessible by filling a short form on the site to get credentials: https://www.di-struct.eu/elearning/.
We hope these resources actively support the VET community on the path towards increasingly digital and innovative teaching.
